Sales and Shipping

Terms and Conditions

Carrier: We ship most US kit orders via USPS Priority mail.  (See below for shipments to non-US locations)

Email notice: You receive immediate payment confirmation from PayPal by email. It may be a few days before you receive additional email from us with order & shipping details.

Warranty & Repairs: 1-year parts warranty unless otherwise stated. We provide standard factory repair service for select modern (2015 or later) kits, and for pre-2000 vintage test and instrument equipment when possible; see our Factory Repairs web page for details. You must prepay the repair fee and two-way shipping for Factory Repairs.

Backorder/ship date policy: Typically ships within 10 business days for in-stock items, or 30 days for not-in-stock, unless otherwise stated. Out of stock can happen suddenly if a product becomes popular. Usually the product web page will tell you if an item is back-ordered, and our email confirmation refers you to that page. We follow business-reasonable practices to do our best to keep these product web pages up to date with shipping time information.

Non-US orders: Shipped First Class, with an International Priority Mail upgrade option, and we contact you by email for any additional International shipping charges after you place your order.

Sales tax: Added by PayPal at checkout for Pennsylvania customers.

Product specifications: We do our best to publish accurate product specifications, but they can change. Specifications are subject to change without notice, and sometimes specifications necessarily are approximate or nominal (in part because they can depend on how a kit is assembled, and of course you build the Heathkit yourself).

Website errors: We work hard to create a pleasing and effective customer experience, including at our website, and we always genuinely welcome constructive comments such as corrections of typos. Note, sometimes PayPal glitches when sending you back to our website after you complete your purchase. If you receive email notice from PayPal confirming your payment, your order was successful (and we will see your payment), even if PayPal has trouble returning you to our website after they're done. If you don't receive email direct from Heathkit confirming your order within a few days after PayPal confirms your order, first please check your spam folder, and then please do write to us. The Web is not perfect, so thanks for your patience.

Phone calls/voicemail: Honestly phone calls are not the best way to reach us. The same Heathkit team members who design, build, and ship your products process voicemails and emails. (It's a lot faster to read 25 emails than reply to 25 voicemails.) Try voicemail if you must, but please understand that email generally will be more effective for you.

Kindness: We try to be kind to our customers, and we hope they'll be kind to us and to other customers. Please remember all of us here are doing out best. Be kind to someone today. Thanks.

Product Returns

(This actually never seems to happen, but here's the policy.)

Heathkit Product Returns Policy

Who can return products, and how to do it.  Unopened kit products purchased from Heathkit and in new unopened/boxed as-shipped condition generally may be returned by the original purchaser for a full refund (i.e. purchase price at time of purchase less shipping costs) upon customer request. To initiate a return request, contact Heathkit Sales by replying to the order confirmation email you received at the time of order from "heathkit.com" or "heath.company" with its SO number in its email Subject: field. If the kit is returnable, we will send you a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) number and information on where and how to return it.

About the kit condition and your refund. Opened kits sometimes may be returnable for a full or partial refund. To be accepted for a full refund, a kit must be complete and in its original condition as packed and shipped by Heathkit, and construction must not have begun. Marking in or modifying the manual, unpacking or itemizing parts, failing to return all parts in as-packed condition, and visiting the Personal Product Page™ unique to the kit each are examples of assembly steps for the kit, and thus comprise having begun product assembly. A kit for which assembly has begun either may be accepted for return with full or partial refund or may be refused by Heathkit, at Heathkit's sole discretion. Generally software and other virtual goods may not be returned once opened or used.

Who pays for what. The buyer pays the cost of shipping for returns (unless waived at Heathkit's sole discretion), and the returned kit must be shipped with tracking and delivery confirmation using the same mode or carrier used when it was sent, with the shipment insured to cover the full-purchase price value of the kit.
